A Clare family holidaying on mainland Greece say there is no major cause for concern amongst the public despite wildfires ravaging the country’s islands.
Over twenty thousand tourists have been evacuated from the archipelago of Evia, Rhodes and Corfu this week amid the itense weather event.
The Department of Foreign affairs is currently treating the matter as an ‘evolving situation’ and is advising Irish tourists to stay away from the affected areas.
Ennis man and Avenue United Manager, David Russell who’s currently in Athens with his family says while the heat is intense, there are no concerns locally that the fires will spread.
