A new suicide prevention crisis centre is to open its doors in Ennis this evening.

Organisers of the Haven Hub Clare say the service will provide a ‘safe space’ for people over 16 years of age who feel they need peer support.

Volunteers say the hub is being launched here to provide a ‘stop gap’ that counteracts the closing of the majority of suicide prevention services after 11pm each night, with the exception of University Hospital Limerick.
