It comes as Cusack Park has been officially renamed Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg.

Officially opened ‘Cusack Park’ in 1936, the home of Clare GAA has been rebranded and for the first time will carry the Irish name of the association’s local founding father.

Clare GAA consulted the county’s most prominent Gaeilgeóirs to ensure the correct version of the name was used, who maintained the Carron native always referred to himself as Micheál Chiosóg.

The stadium’s first ever title sponsor, meanwhile, is American multi-national Zimmer Biomet, which has secured the sponsorship deal for three years and will have the option of extending it for two more.

The company which specialises in the production of orthopaedic medical devices employs roughly 1,100 people in Ireland.

Head of Manufacturing at Zimmer Biomet Shannon, Michael O’Malley says its a great fit for both organisations.

Clare GAA says the move is a massive step for the future of this county’s association.

Head of Operations Deirdre Murphy is hopeful the venture will help to deliver a number of crucial projects.
