A new initiative has been set up to promote understanding within Clare’s coastal communities of the threats facing marine biodiversity.
The Kilrush-based Irish Whale and Dolphin Group is collaborating with the newly-formed Banner Gleo to “build knowledge and share experiences” of Liscannor Bay.
While the bay itself isn’t designated for nature conservation, it’s connected to marine protected areas such as the Inagh River Special Area of Conservation, the Cliffs of Moher Special Protected Area and the Mid-Clare Coast Special Protected Area.
Chief Executive Officer of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group in Kilrush, Dr Simon Berrow, believes people should understand what’s happening in the waters around them.
