New Eagle Chicks Hatch At Mountshannon

Two rare eagle chicks have hatched in nests at Lough Derg in Mountshannon.

They're the young of a pair of white-tailed eagles nesting near Mountshannon Pier who made history in 2013 when they reared the first chicks to fly from a nest in Ireland in over 100 years.

News of the new eagles gives a fresh boost to a massive reintroduction project which saw 100 young white-tailed eagles being released in Killarney National Park between 2007 and 2011.
