New Appointments Announced For Killaloe Diocese

New appointments have been announced for the Diocese of Killaloe.

There are 80 priests remaining in the 58 parishes of the diocese which has now been organised into twelve clusters as a result of falling numbers in the Catholic Church.

Having reached the age of retirement, Fr John Jones, Fr Sean Sexton and Fr Michael Sheedy will take on the role of administer of their respective parishes of Mountshannon, Inagh/Kilnamona and Kilrush/Kilimer.

Fr Ingatius Mc Cormack will become the Administrator of Quin, while continuing in his role at St Flannan's College, Ennis.

Fr. Albert McDonnell will now become a part-time Associate Judicial Vicar of the Galway Regional Marriage Tribunal alongside his positions as Parish Priest of Coolmeen and Kildysart parishes and Chancellor of Killaloe Diocese.

Fr. Michael Geraghty was recently ordained to join the team of priests in the Odhran Cluster and to be priest in residence in Nenagh.

While Fr. Brendan Quinlivan will become the Assistant Diocesan Director of Vocations when the changes come into effect on Friday, July 31st and will remain on in Ennis Parish as the Diocesan Communications Officer.

Of the 80 priests still in full-time parish ministry, 3 are engaged in full-time school chaplaincy, teaching and other pastoral work throughout Ireland, 3 serve overseas in various ministries and 12 priests in the Killaloe Diocese are fully retired from active ministry.
