Nearly a third of new applications for Carers Allowance in Clare so far this year have been refused.
Figures released by the Oireachtas show of the 118 applications made in this county so far this year, 40 have been turned down.

10 of the 26 applications from Clare for the Carers Benefit assistance have also been refused.
A total of 5,727 requests under both payments have been made nationally so far in 2022, with around two thirds of these ultimately approved.
