New figures have revealed that greenhouse gas emissions at Moneypoint Power Station in West Clare dropped by 65% last year.
The Environmental Protection Agency has published details of emissions covering all of 2019, which show that overall, emissions dropped by 8.7% in Ireland last year.
This is marginally behind on the European decrease of 8.9% in that time.
The reduced emissions at Moneypoint are to be expected, as the ESB winds down coal-burning operations at the plant near Kilrush.
