Midwest Simon says vital fundraising in the run up to Christmas will help prevent people from having to queue for local food banks.
As part of the 63 dips in 21 days initiative, Miltown Malbay’s June Curtin has been braving the Atlantic elements, with the aim of raising €200,000 for the homeless service.
The proceeds will go towards opening a ‘social grocery’ shop in Ennis, where people can buy food at a reduced rate, instead of queueing at local food banks.
CEO of Midwest Simon, Jackie Bonfield, says a lack of government supports is causing people who are struggling to make ends meet to get trapped.
