It’s claimed major upgrades commencing at the Ballycannon Wastewater Treatment Plant in Meelick this week will finally allow a community to develop.
Since 1980, residents of the 62 homes in the nearby Ballycannon Heights Estate had faced persistent issues with foul odours due to inadequate infrastructure at the facility.
Uisce Eireann however, has now appointed contractors to construct a new pumping station and network sewer pipe to alleviate the issue, while a new water mains will also be installed in Parteen.
