Clare's Labour TD has been expelled from it's parliamentary party.
It comes after Michael McNamara voted against the government as TDs voted in favour of the sale of Aer Lingus shares in the Dáil this evening.
He was the only government TD to vote against the plan.
A Labour spokesman has confirmed to Clare FM that Deputy McNamara has already been informed of his expulsion.
It means that he loses his office in the Labour area of Leinster House, while he is no longer entitled to represent the party in Oireachtas committees.
In a Dáil speech earlier, the East Clare TD called the sale of Aer Lingus a "gamble" and expressed fears that it could be detrimental for Shannon Airport.
