The Mayor of Ennis insists there’s now clarity around the vision of Ennis 2040 and says she has “100% faith” that its €10 million loan will be repaid.
Following an independent review, Clare County Council has confirmed the remit of Ennis 2040 DAC has been altered, with its focus now on the former Boys National School site, Ashfield House, the Francis Street affordable housing site and the development of lands for housing in Claureen.
It’s also been confirmed that €6.2 million of the DAC’s €10 million loan has been drawn down, with the Council claiming it’ll be repaid “when the property assets purchased with the loan are activated”.
Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard has been telling Clare FM’s Seán Lyons she believes the strategy’s goals became blurred as inaccurate narratives around it were spread.
