Families from all over Clare have been encouraged to make their way to Ennis this evening for the annual turning-on of the Christmas lights.
The much-anticipated event will take place in the Abbey Street Car Park this evening from 5pm to 7:30pm and will be opened by special guest Clare hurler Shane O’Donnell with music from Socks in the Frying Pan and a performance by the Pantaloons.
The ceremony has been moved to a Thursday this year following complaints from businesses last year that holding it on Black Friday caused traffic congestion in the town.
Mayor of Ennis and Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Daly says regardless of where in the county someone resides, he’s certain they’ll be feeling festive after tonight’s proceedings in the county town.
