Man Being Treated At UHL Following Shannon Car Crash

A man is being treated in hospital following a road traffic collision in Shannon this afternoon.

The two car crash occurred in the Shannon Free Zone shortly before 2pm and the scene was attended by units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service, the National Ambulance Service paramedics as well as Gardaí.

One of the cars overturned onto its side following the impact, trapping the driver inside.

Fire crews smashed the rear window of the overturned car to help the driver to safety.

Both drivers were assessed at the scene by parademics with one later transported to University Hospital Limerick as a precaution.

His injuries are not believed to be serious and the road has since been cleared and reopened.
