A man has been jailed for three years after being found guilty of threatening to kill an Ennis dentist.
41-year-old Eoin Hannan also turned down the option of having the final 15 months of his jail term suspended.
Earlier this month, Eoin Hannan with an address on the Kilrush Road in Ennis was found guilty of threatening to kill Dr. Tony Cotgreave on May 10th 2012, after claiming that the dentist had abused his teeth seven months earlier.
His three-day trial heard that Mr. Hannan told him at his surgery that he had "a bullet for his head."
In sentencing at Ennis Circuit Court, both the victim and Judge Gerald Keyes said he had shown no remorse and the Kilmallock native was sentenced to three years in jail.
Judge Keyes said that he would suspend the final 15 months on condition that Mr Hannan enter a bond to keep the peace, abstain from alcohol and take medication to deal with his bipolar effective disorder.
However, protesting his innocence during a hearing that was punctuated by outbursts from him, Mr Hannan rejected this option, even after he had consulted with his former counsel after being led from the court.
Judge Keyes said he could apply at a later date in relation to entering the bond.
