Man dies after stabbing in Cork

Two people are being questioned by Gardai this morning in connection with a fatal stabbing in Cork city last night.

A man in his 30s died after he was stabbed in the chest on Infirmary Road in the early hours of this morning.

At about 2 o’clock this morning a 31 year old man suffered serious stab wounds when a fight reportedly broke out on Infirmary Road in Cork city – close to Garda district headquarters on Anglesea Street.

The victim, who was a local man, was taken to Cork University Hospital after being rushed there by ambulance, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The area remains sealed off this morning while a Garda technical team carries out an examination.

A man and a woman, both in their 20s, were arrested close to the scene – they’re being held at the Bridewell Garda station in Cork.

Gardaí at Anglesea are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have information to contact them.
