Man Appears In Court Following Sixmilebridge Standoff

A man has appeared before a special sitting of Ennis District Court charged in connection with false imprisonment and possession of a firearm in Sixmilebridge on Thursday.

50 year-old Thomas Howard of Gortnaminch, Listowel, Co. Kerry has been charged with three counts of false imprisonment and one count of possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence at Donnybrook, Sixmilebridge on Thursday, July 2nd

Before a special sitting of Ennis Disctrict Court, Garda Roddy Bourke gave evidence of charging Mr Howard at Shannon Garda Station late last night.

Judge Marie Keane remanded the accused in custody to appear before Ennis District Court next Wednesday morning.
