Major Jobs Boost

500 new jobs are being announced at Apple’s European Headquarters in Cork.

The company plans to construct a three-storey office block next to its existing plant in the city to cater for the expansion of its business in Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa.

The computer technology giant already employs 2,800 people in Cork and the new positions will be rolled out over the next 18 months.

More than 400 jobs will be up for grabs in Co. Wexford today.

The Wexford Employment and Advice Fair gets underway this afternoon at 3 O’clock.

Social Protection Minister Joan Burton will open the event, which will be attended by companies like Zurich Insurance, Datapack Limited and Aldi.

They’ll be recruiting for new positions around the country.
