Two high-profile candidates have been eliminated in Ennis, as counting continues in the local elections.
Outgoing Town Councillor Michael Guilfoyle was eliminated after the 15th count – the Independent candidate, a public representative since 1985, announced his retirement from politics after his hopes came to an end.
The following count then saw the elimination of Labour's second candidate here – Dermot Hayes.
Two seats have been filled in Ennis, by James Breen and Johnny Flynn. The following candidates are contesting the six remaining positions.
