Midwest Simon says a lack of local services could be to blame for a rise in homeless numbers in Clare.
The latest figures from the Department of Housing show Clare bucked the national trend, with an 18% increase in homeless numbers last month, when 82 people were availing of emergency accommodation in this county.
According to Clare’s Homeless Action Team, the highest proportion of those accessing homeless services here are doing so as a result of landlords issuing Notices to Quit or family or relationship breakdowns.
Nationally, homeless figures fell marginally in December and Shannon native MidWest Simon Regional Services Management Team member, Tara Keane, says the continued rise in homeless numbers in this county is concerning.
