Labour Nominations Close As Burton Receives Fresh Support

There have been no late additions to the contests for the top jobs in Labour, following today's nominations deadline.

Alex White will face Social Protection Minister Joan Burton for leader, while Junior Ministers Alan Kelly and Sean Sherlock – as well as TDs Michael McCarthy and Ciara Conway – have put their names forward to become the next Deputy Leader.

The result will be announced on Friday July 4th.

Kerry TD Arthur Spring – who had considered putting his own name forward for the leadership – didn't declare in the end, and says he's supporting Joan Burton.
