A West Clare town has the third-lowest average household income nationwide.
New data published by the Central Statistics Office has revealed that Kilrush has the highest proportion of people in the county making less than €20,000 a year.
According to Census 2022 figures, the median net household income in Clare is €47,581.
The town at the top of the household income table here is Sixmilebridge where residents make €53,666 on average.
Kilrush meanwhile has the lowest average household income in the county at €31,948 which is also the third-lowest nationwide after Lifford in County Donegal and Belturbet in County Cavan.
The electoral area in Clare where earnings are highest is Shannon where the average household makes €52,132 a year, closely followed by Killaloe where the average income is €51,395.
Residents of the Ennistymon local electoral area have the lowest average household income at €41,602.
When it comes to electoral divisions, Rossroe in rural Sixmilebridge has the highest average household income in Clare at €73,498 while Kilkee has the lowest at €28,025.
The electoral area in the county where the most households make between €20,000 and €40,000 a year is Ennistymon at almost 22%.
At the other end of the income table meanwhile, almost 19% of Kilrush residents make less than €20,000 which is a greater percentage than any other area in Clare.
