Just four reports of crimes against tourists were received in Clare last year, despite a major spike nationally.
The Irish Tourist Assistance Service experienced a 24% jump in the number of reports over 2017 when compared with the previous year.

It’s annual report shows nearly 900 people were helped by the service during their visit to Ireland in 2017 with theft the most common crime, making up 39% of referrals.
CEO of ITAS Lisa Kennedy says helping the tourists who are affected by crimes is often down to the local providers.
