Josephine Feehily Appointed Chair Of Midwest’s New University

The Department of Further and Higher Education has today confirmed the appointment of the first governing body of the Midwest’s new University, which opens it’s doors this week.

It follows the granting of Technological University status to Limerick and Athlone Institutes of Technology, which will cease to legally exist from Friday.

Former head of the Revenue Commissioners, Josephine Feehily has been appointed as Chair of the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest, by Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris.

The TU can have between 14 to 22 members in total on the governing body including the first President, Professor Vincent Cunnane, who currently heads up Limerick Institute of Technology.
