A man has been arrested in Clarecastle after an Irish Water Metre Installer was threatened with a shot-gun.
The local man in his 50's is being questioned by Gardai in Ennis following the alleged incident this monring.
At around 9.20 this morning, Gardai were called to a house at Quay Road, Clarecastle where workers had arrived to install an Irish Water Metre.
Gardai are investigating reports that the worker had a rifle pointed at him by a local resident, though no shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident.
The resident, a local man in his late fifties was arrested and taken to Ennis Garda Station where he's still being held for questioing under Section 30 of the Criminal Justice Act.
In a follow up search Gardai recovered a fire arm from the river – It's not know whether the rifle was loaded and it's now being sent for technical examination.
