Irish Water is concerned that holiday makers visiting Clare’s coastal regions is placing additional pressure on water supplies.

15 areas, including Carron in North Clare, have been identified by the utility as being at risk of water shortage during the coming heatwave, while supplies across the county are being closely monitored.

Met Eireann issued a status yellow advisory warning for high temperatures for Munster and Leinster from Thursday which will run until Sunday morning.

Duane O’Brien, Irish Water’s Operation Lead for Clare, says the Ennistymon network is under considerable strain.
