Nurses say there was in excess of two dozen more patients waiting for beds at the region’s main hospital today than any other hospital in the country.
The latest trolley analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 87 patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning.
55 of those were on trolleys in the Emergency Department, with a further 32 accommodated in overflow areas of wards.

The overall figure is 29 more than the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital, and comes on a morning when there were 626 patients waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.
