West Clare Water Supply Disruptions Could Last ‘Several Hours’ At A Time For Next Fortnight

Irish Water is warning of disruptions to supply in the West Clare area could last ‘several hours’ at a time in the next two weeks.

It comes as the utility has announced upgrade works at the New Doolough Water Treatment Plan are now at construction stage, meaning from tomorrow, reduced pressure and outages in the West of the county are expected for up to a fortnight.

The affected areas include Kilrush, Kilkee, Kilmihil, Doonbeg, Quilty, Carrigaholt, and all surrounding areas, including all group water schemes fed from this supply.

Irish Water’s Operations Lead for Clare, Duane O’ Brien, says night time disruption in particular is anticipated in the area.

Tankered water has been set up at the following locations to provide an alternative water supply to customers in the event of water outage.

Irish Water is reminding customers to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
