Transport Minister Accused Of ‘Bowing’ To Pressure Not To Proceed With Northern Distributor Road

A former Mayor of Clare is accusing the Transport Minister of ‘bowing’ to pressure not to proceed with the Northern Distributor Road project.

Councillors have been told by local authority CEO Pat Dowling that if the works are not included in the Limerick Shannon Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy, as they are currently not, they won’t go ahead.

Last evening’s monthly meeting of elected representatives heard the road, intended to link South East Clare to North Limerick, remains ‘a key objective’ of the Councils in both counties.
