IDA Site Visits To Clare Hit Five-Year High

New figures have revealed that the number of site visits by potential foreign investors to County Clare has hit a five-year high.

The IDA has released its overall site visit statistics for 2019, which show that the number of these trips in this county has more than doubled since 2015.

Across 2019, the IDA brought 28 firms to Clare, with a view to having them invest in this county.

This is a welcome upturn in fortunes, after just 13 such visits took place in 2018, which itself was a three year low.

No further details are given on the locations of the visits in terms of where in Clare they have taken place, but they’re seen as a key step in attracting foreign direct investment to an area.

Looking at the past five years, this marks the highest figure recorded in Clare, though it has fluctuated somewhat.

The figure rose each year from 2015 to 2017, when it peaked at 22, before dropping to 13 two years ago and bouncing back healthily last year.

And despite the turnaround in Clare’s performance with potential FDI investment, Dublin remains the preferred location for these firms, with the capital accounting for around half of all such site visits across 2019.
