Hundreds Of Secondary Schools Still Set To Close On Thursday

Hundreds of secondary schools are set to close on Thursday, if ASTI members go ahead with planned strike action.

Talks between union members and the Department of Education failed to reach agreement yesterday.

Both sides are due to meet again today, to discuss Junior Cert Cycle reforms, while talks aimed at resolving the industrial dispute over pay for new teachers are set to resume tomorrow.

Fianna Fail's spokesperson on Education Thomas Byrne, says it's not too late to settle the row.
