Government Has Begun Review Of Social Housing Income Limits

The Department of Housing has begun a review of the income limits which are applied to applicants for social housing.

Minister of the State in the Department, Malcolm Noonan, has confirmed that the review has commenced but has given no timeline on how long it will take.

Last week, Clare Councillors called for the limits to be reviewed, saying they are too low and mean that there are many people who can’t apply for social housing, and are also struggling to afford rental costs.

The current limits have been in place since 2011, and have not changed in that time despite the significant rise in rental costs here.
