Clare Independent TD Calling For Help to Buy Scheme To Include Vacant Homes

A Clare Independent TD is calling for the expansion of the Help to Buy scheme so that people who want to buy vacant houses can benefit from it.

The scheme received a total of 7,000 applicants nationally in January which is a 36% increase on the figures in the same month last year.

However, many people are unable to avail of the scheme, as it only applies to first time buyers or to people who are building a new home.

Deputy Violet Anne Wynne says people trying to get on the property ladder in the county have expressed frustration to her over obstacles in purchasing a home.

 

She believes the scheme should be broadened to include those who are buying vacant properties.
