A national housing charity claims a ramped up supply of social homes is now needed to help Clare’s renters.
It comes ahead of the introduction of the new Residential Tenancies Act on March 1st, which will see rent increases capped at 2% nationwide, with a six-year minium fixed tennancies in place.

Concern has been raised by opposition, however, that landlords will be able to hike up rents far beyond this if a tenant leaves voluntarily.
Threshold’s National Casework Manager Megan Kenny believes increasing access to social housing is the best long term rent control.
