It’s hoped a number of Clare communities will benefit from the government’s decision to increase supports for newly-created group water schemes
Environment Minister Phil Hogan has announced a connection grant of 6,500 euro per house in areas where communities join together and establish a group sewerage scheme, more than treble the previous payments.
Local Authorities will be asked to prioritise proposals, paying particular attention to the public health and environmental benefits of such a move, and local representatives in East Clare say Broadford and O’Briens Bridge are areas which could benefit.
Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen is also hopeful for one West Clare community in particular.
