Clare, and indeed North Clare, is no stranger to film projects in particular, but this project is significant and could produce an economic spin-off for the area.

The major new BBC/RTE drama will be shot in and around Lahinch, with production getting underway in February.

The shoot will last 12 weeks in total, and cast and crew will be based here for the duration.

A number of locals will also be hired to work on the show.

Clare’s Arts Officer Siobhán Mulcahy says it’s a chance to show Clare off to the world and possibly attract future productions.

The production follows in the footsteps of last July’s Irish Open, during which images of North Clare were beamed to an international audience.

Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Shane Talty hopes it will help boost tourism numbers, for all of the county.
