Hope has been expressed that a proposed increase in litter fines will decrease instances of littering across Clare.
It follows the announcement that an extra €250,000 will be made available to Clare County Council to enable the local authority to install more dog waste bins and bag dispensers across the county.
The fund will also facilitate the increase in on the spot litter fines to €250 starting on September 1st.
Member of Tulla Tidy Towns, Tim Humphries has been telling Clare FM’s Darragh O’Grady that he’s optimistic the new measures will discourage people from taking a chance and choosing not to dispose of waste correctly.
