It’s hoped an archive of documents, photographs and maps discovered in West Clare will be on display to the public in the coming years.
Following the sale of a house owned by an auctioneering business in Kilrush, the personal archive of Joseph Barrett, a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and the IRA was discovered.
It mostly relates to his activities during the War of Independence and the Civil War.

Historian and lecturer at Mary Immaculate College Dr Paul O’Brien, who helped to rescue the archive says its of national significance:
