The INTO will gather teachers’ opinions across Clare over the coming weeks, ahead of a national ballot on strike action.
The primary school teachers’ union has also decided to meet with the Department of Education in the next month, after a central executive committee meeting was held.

Following this period of consultation, the INTO intends to initiate the nationwide vote on whether or not teachers will walk off the job in the ongoing row over equal pay for new entrants.
Corofin-native INTO President Joe Killeen, who teaches in Gort, says they feel they’ve been left with no other option.
