The father of murdered Irish student Nicola Furlong says his daughter’s name has finally been cleared.

Andrew Furlong was speaking after 19 year old Richard Hinds from Tennessee was found guilty of Nicola’s murder in a hotel room in Tokyo in Japan last year – he’s been sentenced to between 5 and 10 years in prison.
Andrew Furlong says the sentence is the best the family could have hoped for under Japanese law – but says he never wants to hear Richard Hinds name again.
He also paid tribute to the support shown to his family since their ordeal began adding the kindness of strangers has left the family speechless, both in Ireland and Japan:
