Clare Senator Claims Midwest Hospital Management Have Questions To Answer, Not Government

A Clare Senator is defending the government’s actions in tackling the trolley crisis at the region’s main hospital, saying hospital management are the ones with questions to answer.

Following an unannounced inspection in March, HIQA published a report on Friday which found that management at University Hospital Limerick had failed in ensuring patient safety wasn’t compromised due to overcrowding.

The publication also stated that dying patients were not provided with privacy or dignity as they received care while in overcrowded areas of the hospital.
