Gardaí have apprehended a drug driver and seized two uninsured vehicles in a chance encounter near Clarecastle.
The incident occurred at the the Killow East Roundabout just before the M18 motorway where the Roads Policing Unit were alerted to an Audi A6 Saloon and trailer seemingly abandoned on the flyover.
It emerged the driver had no licence or insurance and when another motorist in a BMW 5-Series came to collect him, he also had no insurance and produced a fake licence,
Both vehicles were seized and while waiting for the tow truck to arrive, Gardaí stopped an Audi A6 Estate over its window tint levels, the driver then failed a roadside drug test for amphetamines.
The motorist was subsequently arrested and all three drivers will face court at a later date.
