Gardaí Seek Info On Getaway Vehicle Following Carrigaholt Post Office Burglary

Gardaí are continuing to question four men arrested in connection with a robbery at a post office in West Clare, during which a woman sustained injuries.

As part of a Garda investigation into the incident at Carrigaholt Post Office yesterday, information is being sought on the movements of a car used as a getaway vehicle.

The alarm was raised shortly after three o’clock yesterday afternoon, when two suspects, armed with an implement entered Carrigaholt Post Office.

A woman in her 40s was injured during the course of incident and a quantity of cash was subsequently reported stolen.

A burnt out vehicle, which it’s understood was used by the suspects, was later found nearby.

It’s believed the perpetrators later transfered to a Black Seat, which was used as a getaway vehicle.

Garda units from stations in Clare, supported by the Armed Support Unit, subsequently intercepted the suspects on the main road from Inch to Ennis.

Four men, aged in their 30s have been arrested and are being detained at Garda Stations in Clare under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who were in The Square, Carrigaholt area yesterday between 3 and 3:30pm, and anyone with information on the movements of a Black Seat to contact investigating Gardaí.

They’re particularly appealing to any road users with camera footage, including dash-cam, to make that footage available.
