Garda Investigation Into Spate Of Burglaries In Clare

A Garda investigation is underway into a spate of burglaries in parts of Clare on the same day.

Five homes were targetted by thieves in the Latoon – Newmarket on Fergus, Ballinahinch – Whitegate, Callaghy – Tuamgraney, Quin Gardens and Sooreeney – Sixmilebridge areas on Friday last between 3 and 8pm.

Entry was gained through an unlocked patio door in a house in Latoon, Newmarket on Fergus, the rooms were ransacked and an Omega Seamaster watch stolen.

A house in Ballinahinch, Whitegate was entered through a rear window, items were thrown around but nothing was stolen.

A rear window of a house in Callaghy, Tuamgraney was forced and entry gained – nothing was stolen. Another house in Quin Gardens was broken into by forcing a rear window and a green Gucci watch, gold cuff links, chain and chain links stolen.

The rear door of a house in Sooreeny, Sixmilebridge was forced and gold diamond earrings, a white gold eternity and engagement ring, an Indian Gold necklace and a sum of money were stolen.

Earlier in the week, sometime between 5 p.m. on Wednesday May 3rd and Thursday morning a house and shed in Rath, Mullagh were broken into and an under and over shotgun and a number of tools were stolen.

Entry was gained by forcing the front door.
