The so-called King of Spancilhill is being remembered at his funeral today.
Legendary balladeer and story-teller Robbie McMahon died on Thursday morning, following an illness. He was 86 years old.
Robbie has been hailed as an iconic figure in the world of music, throughout Ireland and internationally.
He is survived by his wife Maura, their children and grandchildren, and is being laid to rest at Kilraghtas Cemetery this afternoon, following funeral mass at Clooney Church.
Meanwhile the funeral of former Mayor of Kilrush Stephen O’Gorman is taking place this afternoon.
A guard of honour has been provided by locals including his colleagues on Kilrush Town Council where he served as a Fianna Fail representative for 20 years until his death on Friday, following an illness.
Councillor O’Gorman is survived by his wife Geraldine, sons, daughters and grandchildren and will be laid to rest in All Saints Cemetery, Shanakyle following his funeral mass in St. Senan’s Church.
