Funding Announced For Shannon As Part Of €23m Allocation For Airports

A Minister of State at the Department of Transport says every effort is being made to ensure Shannon Airport and the Midwest region is well-placed to attract increased connectivity once international travel resumes.

Hildegarde Naughton has announced over 23 million euro in direct exchequer supports to Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Knock, Kerry and Donegal.

920,000 euro of that has been earmarked for Shannon to deal directly with airlines to offer route incentives and ensure increased services to the region.

Ahead of the re-opening of international travel next Monday, Junior Minister Hildegard Naughton has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that the Government will continue to monitor necessary supports for Shannon and the country’s other airports.
