Ennis Town Council is currently engaging with the local business community on ways to incentivise parking in the town, while other local representatives are calling for the first hour’s parking in Ennis to be free.
It comes as Limerick City Council announces a free parking scheme at weekends, prompting concern among local representatives that shoppers will be tempted out of Clare.
County Councillor Pat Daly believes cheaper parking in Ennis will benefit the town as a whole.
