A flight from Germany to Mexico has diverted to Shannon Airport this afternoon after the crew declared a medical emergency over the Atlantic.
Condor flight CFG-114 departed Frankfurt at around 10.15am (Irish time), bound for Cancun. The flight was about three hours into its journey when the crew turned around confirming they had a passenger who required medical assistance.
Air traffic controllers advised authorities at Shannon Airport of the unscheduled arrival while the National Ambulance Service was also alerted and requested to dispatch resources to the airport.
The Airbus A330-941 jet landed at 2.14pm and was met at the terminal by airport staff and ambulance paramedics. The patient was assessed and treated at the airport before being removed to hospital.
The flight has since resumed its journey to Cancun.
