The firm behind a controversial wind farm proposal in south-east Clare is looking to appeal An Coimisiún Pleanála’s decision to refuse it planning permission.
Ballycar Green Energy Limited is applying to the High Court for leave to bring a judicial review after its application for a wind farm was rejected earlier this year.
The Limerick-based company applied for planning permission in January 2024 for a 12-turbine 50-megawatt wind energy development in the townlands of Glennagross, Cappateemore East, Ballycannan West, Ballycannan East, Ballycar South and Ballycar North.
An Coimisiún Pleanála rejected the plans in March of this year, saying it wasn’t satisfied measures to mitigate aviation safety risks for Shannon Airport and AirNav Ireland would be implemented.
It also declared its intention to recoup costs amounting to €73,688 from the applicant.
Now, Ballycar Green Energy Limited has lodged a case with the High Court seeking leave to apply for judicial review in relation to the decision.
No date has yet been set for a hearing.
