West Clare Health Campaigner Says Minister Still Doesn’t Grasp UHL Overcrowding Crisis

A West Clare health campaigner claims the Health Minister still doesn’t have a grasp of the overcrowding crisis at University Hospital Limerick.

Friends of Ennis Hospital spokesperson Deirdre Culligan attended the Dooradoyle facility this week to accompany a relative for an x-ray and says she encountered a high number of patients on trolleys and staff under immense pressure.

236 new beds have opened at University Hospital Limerick since 2020, while planning is underway for a second 96-bed block, which is due to be delivered in late 2029.

Deirdre believes Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill needs to see what UHL is like day to day.
